Carmelites Top 11.3 Million Facebook Views in 2025
Quiet Charism, Big Impact
MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA / DILI, TIMOR-LESTE — From 1 January to 30 November 2025, the Carmelites of Australia and Timor-Leste registered 11.3 million views on Facebook, consolidating their place at the forefront of Catholic digital mission and—by many measures—potentially the most impactful Carmelite presence online today.
The audience continues to grow with 240,000 followers on Facebook and more than 6,600 on Instagram, while the Province’s resources keep finding a home beyond social feeds: nearly 45,000 downloads of Lectio Divina, over 14,500 downloads of the Jubilee Year logo, and more than 106,000 downloads of St Titus Brandsma resources. The mix is distinctly Carmelite—short prayers and reflections, weekly Celebrating at Home Sunday materials, Lectio Divina, and stories from ministries across Australia and Timor-Leste—crafted to place beauty, Scripture and hope within everyday reach.
“This isn’t about chasing numbers,” a Provincial spokesperson said. “It’s about making space—on phones and in hearts—for quiet prayer, honest hope, and the Gospel lived simply. If our posts travel far, it’s because people are finding something they can trust.”
The Province points to the steady craft behind the scenes and to the community that amplifies it. “Thank you to our followers—your shares, comments and prayers carry this mission well beyond our churches and houses.” The Carmelites also offered a particular word of appreciation for the creative stewardship that has shaped the Province’s online identity: “We’re grateful for Matthew Price of Transformation by Design. His design, web development and day-to-day social media care have helped us communicate simply, beautifully and consistently.”
The Carmelite approach to communication takes its cue from St Titus Brandsma, O.Carm, journalist and martyr, who urged the Church to bring the Gospel to the modern public square with courage and clarity. That spirit—truth told with charity—continues to guide the Province’s online presence.
True to their tradition, the Carmelites mark this milestone with quiet thanks to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the prophetic witness of Elijah, and to God, whose grace can turn a digital post into a human encounter. The work continues: expanding access to Lectio Divina, publishing Celebrating at Home each week, and telling ground-level stories of mercy and hope from communities in Australia and Timor-Leste.
