With joy and thanksgiving to God, the Carmelites of Australia & Timor-Leste announce that Br Albino Dos Santos will be ordained Priest and Br Marcolino Gomes will be ordained Deacon on 12 November this year by Bishop Anthony Ireland. The Ordination will take place during Mass at 5.00pm at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Middle Park (VIC).

A major theme in St Luke’s Gospel is that the message of Jesus is for all: men and women, rich and poor, old and young, healthy and sick, gentile and Jew. No one is excluded.

1 October is the feast day of St Thérèse of Lisieux famous for her teaching on the 'the little way of confidence and love' found in her autobiography, The Story of a Soul. Thérèse Martin was born in Alencon in France in 1873. Whilst still young she entered the Discalced Carmel of Lisieux. Her writings reveal a very human character. She frequently fell asleep during the long hours of prayer in the monastery chapel. She always had a strong sense of God's love for her and felt her calling was to be love. 'What matters,' she wrote, 'is not great deeds, but great love'. She died on 30 September 1897, just 24 years old. She was declared a Doctor of the Church by Pope John Paul II in 1997.

As Christians we are called to accept the world as a sacrament of communion, as a way of sharing with God and our neighbours on a global scale. It is our humble conviction that the divine and the human meet in the slightest detail in the seamless garments of God’s creation, in the least speck of dust of our planet (LS #9)
